Edu2.0: Tagging

During this workshop we will explore the ideas of knowledge classification through the creation of taxonomies, folksonomies and tagging. Tagging allows a person or people to tag internet content using an approach where they define the keywords or ontology that best describes to content as it makes sense to them. Tagging adds depth to internet search that allows you to search the past query results you have tagged as meaningful. Tagging provides a “book-marking” approach that can be shared by individuals, groups, organizations and communities of practice. Tagging could be considered social book-marking of internet content. The strength of social book-marking is in its ability for you to follow the activities of other people (or knowledge workers) who you share interests.

Content:

Constructivism, Connectivism, Taxonomies and Folksonomies, Semantic Web (or Web 3.0) Tagging (delicious, technocrati, stumbleupon, etc)

Who and why you should attend: Everyone interested should attend

Tagging is how personalized ontologies are created. If you want to view an alternative way to search and discover information that has been previously screened by your friends and co-workers you will be interested in how tagging is applied within social media.
